WOW! I’m so excited, I don’t know where to begin.  I have won the lottery.  I feel like I’ve won a million pounds.  No, I haven’t won the National Lottery but I feel like I am winning the ‘Lottery of Life’.

People who have known me for years will know that I often had dark thoughts, thought that I had to strive for everything.  I am so excited that I have found that this is not so.

Having discovered Life Coaching was miraculous enough but now it has moved to a completely different level and I know that there is still more to come.  I have given up my teaching career after 22 years and founded my own business.  Teaching was rewarding but working with clients and helping them to make positive changes in their lives is a new high for me.

I had wanted to change my career and racked my brains trying to think of what I wanted to or could do instead but nothing tangible occurred to me.  I had decided to see a life coach to see about developing a better work/life balance.  I had read many self-help books over the years looking for the key to a happier, more fulfilled life and seeing a life coach was the next logical step.

Driving along in my car one day I had a moment of clarity and it hit me with certainty that I didn’t need to see a life coach, I needed to become one!  I went home and began looking up courses.  My husband was completely supportive about this sudden decision.  It was never an idea to give up teaching straight away but to give me something else to work towards.

I learned so much about myself whilst on the course and found it so exciting to be able to help coachees: develop the courage to decide on a new job and secure it after working in the same place for 12 years; develop strategies to overcome anxiety in adults and children; find better work-life balance and feel more settled and confident in a new career (going on to accept greater responsibility)

I realised I often carried thoughts about my past or worried about the future.  I liked to control everything and tried to make the best of everything for everyone.  Now I realise how many times I got in the way; of myself and for others.  The moment of clarity I had when I was driving shows that when you don’t try to manipulate thoughts and work things out, the solution often comes to you.  Not when you want it to but when it is ready and when you get out of the way of yourself.

How many times have you tried to think of a solution to a problem, to force a resolution and control situations only to feel stuck and completely overwhelmed?

I am living more in the flow of life.  I may still have a bad day, feel upset and don’t know why but now I don’t spend ages trying to analyse what’s wrong and therefore move back on again with enjoying the life I am creating.  I am more present for myself and my family and am there to help (not control).

It is the most empowering feeling I have ever had and I know that the only way is up.  My reality is created by my thoughts and by relaxing into things and reality is getting better each day.  Life is not always easy, that’s just human experience but as Richard Carlson would say, I’m learning not to sweat the small stuff. People who have seen me recently can see a noticeable difference.  People who don’t know me comment on my energy and positivity and how relaxed I am.

It isn’t about money, possessions, kudos or anything else.  I’m not looking for anything externally to make me happy; my happiness is coming from within with great external consequences. I am a more loving and relaxed partner, mother and friend.

I would like to thank Nicola Bird for introducing me to Michael Neill and the Three Principles.  It has truly enhanced my life and I‘m loving it.
