A simple life can mean different things to different people.
Simplifying your life is not always simple to do. It sounds simple; identify what is important to you and then eliminate everything else. However, with it can come a great deal of fear about the unknown and how it will affect others.
In reality there cannot be a set guide to what to do. You could start with identifying the most important things you want in your life; what is meaningful for you. Look at what you have going on in your life; what works well and what doesn’t. Look at whether your commitments are in line with what is important to you; your values and beliefs. Do you spend your time productively? Which activities are a good use of time and which do you consider wasteful? Learn to say no to tasks you don’t have time for or are not in line with your values. Limit your use of social media and media in general.
Do what you love with those you love. Including making time for yourself. Be present, notice what is going on around you. Slow down and enjoy life; you will find you are more productive in the long-run. Establish routines and simplify tasks eliminating distractions. Declutter and have a place for everything (my children are sick of hearing that mantra)
Go for quality not quantity in possessions, activities and time with those you love. Focus on the task in hand and practice monotasking.
Remember:
- Stuff is just stuff
- People are just people
- Things don’t need to be so complicated – there is no need to make mountains out of mole hills. Relax, focus on the good things.
Enjoy a slower more simple life.
