Kindness is all around us.  It is easy not to notice it in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  For the last two weeks I have been journaling 10 things each day that I am grateful for and WOW is it making me notice kindness from others and making me kinder to them too. I am really noticing and appreciating; politeness, good service, friendliness and thoughtfulness from others. It has made me think about how I interact with others and the impact our actions have on each other.  Here are 10 ideas of things you could do to practice kindness.  They really will make you feel good too.

  1. Donate to charity.
  2. Smile at others, whether you know them or not.
  3. Send or give someone flowers.
  4. Leave a note for a partner or child in their lunch box so they know how much you love them.
  5. Ask neighbours if they need anything doing.
  6. Express gratitude openly to someone who has provided good service to you.
  7. Call someone you haven’t talked to in a while.
  8. Send out an invitation to a group of friends you haven’t seen for a get together.
  9. Offer your partner a massage or back rub without expecting anything in return.
  10. When a thought of generosity arises within you, act on it. Don’t hold back.

What about keeping a gratitude journal too?  It really helps you focus on the good things you experience each day and they don’t just pass you by blindly.

Many people extend kindness as part of their good nature, but what if we all made a more conscious effort to be even kinder by practicing kindness regularly?

Practicing random kindness while expecting nothing in return except the good feelings that these acts provide is life-giving.

When you feel fed up choose something to do to cheer others up.  You will start to feel better about yourself and your life too and enjoy the effect as it snowballs!
